One Week

Since I did not take any pictures of the path's progress, this post will also be about other things we have done in the last week! I know, weird!

So Jeff and his father have worked so much on the path in the last week that they are hoping to finish it tomorrow! Serious? They are that good! Poor Jeff though. He works all day and then comes home to move hundreds of pounds of sand, dirt, and rocks. Only to do it all again the next day. But, I must say, he is looking fit and tan!

This is the picture I just took this morning...a big difference from the last picture I posted just one week ago...

It's coming along! And according to Jeff's calculations, we will put in grass in 2 weeks! YAY!

Now, just to prove that I do have a life outside of the yard work, this is what we've been up to...

I get on kicks of being productive and find some fun crafts for Chloe to do! Here she is painting contact paper that I first sprinkled with salt. It made some cool designs!

While she did that, Adi and I had a quick photo shoot!

We have also gone to the splash pad twice, the library once, and signed Chloe up for preschool! Yes, she really is that old! I can't believe it myself. But, since she is going to be one of the youngest kids in her class (it's combined with 4 and 5 year olds too) I want to make sure she can keep up. Thus, I have found letter practice sheets, counting work sheets, and other fun "school time" stuff for her to learn. She has loved it so far!

She loved putting the pirate puzzle together on the cookie sheet!

But despite my effort to keep the girls happy, they would much rather play with Daddy! That's why they have LOVED him being home 'early' every night this week!

Play time, with Daddy, trumps ALL!!! Even if he happens to fall asleep in the middle of it!

The Path that Rocks

Anyone know what movie the name of this post was inspired by?

Anyway, I have some more pictures of the progress on the backyard! Here ya go!

Just after the rocks were delivered on Friday, as I mentioned in the previous post, the guy with the 10 tons of sand shows up. There is so much construction in my neighborhood that the dumptruck had to back up the street (above left) just to get to the house! Chloe loved watching it dump!

So now we have a huge pile of sand to keep all of the rocks in the driveway company!

We asked a few members of my family to come and help on Saturday and ended up with so much help, we didn't know what to do with everyone! Thanks to all of those that came and helped!

The process was slow and full of hauling dirt, sand, and heavy stones. But Jeff loved using his new tools and making sure everything was well tamped and leveled!

Chloe's favorite part was using the tamp too! Silly kids!

I had to document my first physical labor in the backyard. Up until now, I only supervised!

And thanks to Lucy and Chloe, that landscape fabric is NOT going anywhere! Such sweeties!

Once again, I don't have a recent picture of what was accomplished. Just know there is still A LOT to do! But it's coming along!

P.S. I'm an aunt again!

This Weekend's Project

I first have to start this post off with pictures of the completed rock wall! I am so proud of Jeff! He jumped right in and constructed this wall without ever doing anything like it before. I think it looks awesome and I hope he is happy with it too!

This is my favorite section! The colors don't show well in this picture, but the biggest rock on the right is pretty white plus there is a flat white rock, third from the left on the bottom, that Chloe loves to sit on. It's a good Chloe seat!
I couldn't remember if I had a picture of the pit, so here it is!

Now, on to the real reason for this post...

Memorial Day weekend, we purchased the stones we would be using to pave our walkway in the back, our patio, and our firepit. Today, "The Lowes Guy" (what Chloe called him) delivered all 10 PALLETS of stones. So, our project this weekend is to get most of the rocks from the drive way into the backyard so my cement doesn't crumble from all the weight! When we purchased everything, the guys helping us order what we needed kept questioning if we really thought we needed 10 PALLETS. Yes, we have calculated it all out...multiple times. I should have just told them that Jeff is an accountant...he calculates EVERYTHING...multiple times! Then, when the delivery guy called Jeff to give him a time, he asked if he still wanted all 10 pallets. Ha ha! I don't question my husband's calculations, ok I do a little bit, but we can return anything we don't use, so that's good.

8 pallets in the driveway!

"The Lowes Guy" was kind enough to put the last 2 pallets in the back...he was getting worried about how much weight was on the cement.
Chloe loved watching "The Lowes Guy" bring all of these pallets to our house. It took him a while because he couldn't park anywhere near our house...there is just too much construction going on. He had to park down the street and around the corner and just drive back and forth. He was a trooper! Anyway, the point of telling you that was explaining these pictures...

Chloe was outside for so long that she thought she needed a snack! She is so cute!

I will be taking a lot more pictures tomorrow as we start on the pathway. We have 10 tons of sand (No, that is not a typo) being delivered later today...who knows where they are going to put it! It's a good thing Jeff just purchased it without telling me or I would have stressed about it A LOT!
Wish us luck!
